Short and Sweet

I’m wearing white jeans today, but I have declared it acceptable to wear white before Memorial Day since it’s going to be 82 degrees.  You’re welcome.

I haven’t blogged since Tuesday because I am really boring, and there’s only so many times I want you to have to read “and then I watched TV in bed.”  You’re welcome.

I ate another turkey burger for dinner last night.  I think it was delicious, but I can’t be sure since my senses were already numb from three glasses of wine.  It didn’t stop there.  My head hurts today.

Darren and I talk about nothing but houses these days, and most of those phone calls end with one of us yelling in frustration.  We’re not actually mad at each other, but over the hoops and paper work that comes with buying a house. I am crossing my fingers and toes that this lame ass process is wrapped up by the time he gets here to visit next month.  Counter-offer number FOUR was submitted this morning.  Barf.

I’m meeting my girl Kacy for drinks tonight, because it has been far too long since that has happened.  As I previously mentioned, it’s going to be 83, so those drinks will be had outdoors and probably in great quantity.

Assuming I’m not throwing up tomorrow, there is a 87% chance of me going to see The Hunger Games alone in the middle of the day.  I am so excited.

I have an “engagement” party to attend tomorrow night.  Engagement is in quotes because there will only be females at this party, and there may or may not be the opportunity to purchase things.  For the bedroom.  Ahem.

Happy Weekend!

The League

So, I’ll admit, I was pretty excited to flip my calendar over to September this morning.  That could have more to do with my love of a fresh new clean month of the calendar to look at than the fact that it’s September though.  Yup, one of my favorite things to do is colorfully add weekend plans to the month as they come up.  I’m a freak.

Despite the still 80 and 90 degree days, September means the start of fall, and with talks of winery trips, zoo visits, joining of a flag football team, and actual football starting I am a happy girl. The beginning of football season is nearly upon us, and last night my house was the location of a yearly tradition I first became a part of back in 2008.  The Fantasy Football Draft!  This was the scene in my living room at 8 pm last night:

There were two more of us out of view sitting at the table in the corner.  This was the first year I was able to participate in the “live” draft, since for all the previous ones I was alone in PA.  It’s much more fun with other people around.  The draft started at 8:30 and things wrapped up about 2 hours later.  I think I’m happy with my team, but only time will tell!  Somewhat related, I am sporting a wine headache today.  Ugh.

Moving on to things that don’t involve drinking a whole bottle of wine and baked potato flavored potato chips.  Yesterday I managed to squeak out 45 minutes on the elliptical during lunch, and have I mentioned my abs are still sore from Monday?  Well, they are.  Uh today’s plan was to run, but aforementioned wine headache may derail those plans.  Woof.

Anyway, the last official weekend of summer is almost here, and I have no plans, haha.  What a loser.  So tell me what you guys are up to, anyone got anything good going on?  I’m just hoping to get out of here a little early tomorrow and maybe hit the pool one last time.

I’m in Love

A conversation:

Me: “Man, earthquake on Tuesday, hurricane over the weekend, I wonder what’s going to happen next.”
Dar: “I really need to get you off the East coast immediately.”
Me: “Yes, because getting buried by 3 feet of snow every winter is much more appealing.”
Dar: “But we handle it better here, 3 feet is like 3 inches.”
Me: “I don’t care.  If there are 3 feet of snow on the ground I don’t want to have to go anywhere.  I want the city to shut down for 2 weeks.”

So yeah, looks like I need to go stock up on necessities after work today.  By that I mean wine and potato chips, obviously.  I need to have things I can eat if we lose power people, which we probably will.  There is a very large tree in our front yard whose branches hang precariously close to the power lines, also running through are front yard.  Note to self, remember not to park under said giant tree today.

Yesterday I managed to get back and forth from the gym during brief breaks in the rain and did 2 miles on the treadmill followed by 20 minutes on the elliptical.  I wanted to run more, but my sore legs were dead after my Wednesday lifting session.  Oh well.

The evening brought about excitement in the forms of a new TV show addiction.  Dar’s favorite show is Sons of Anarchy, and he insisted that I start watching, he even sent me the Season 1 DVDs (that I bought him) after he finished with them.  Go figure, his favorite show is about a motorcycle gang of tattooed outlaws.  Anyway, I’m in love, mostly with this guy:

Well hello Charlie Hunnam, aka Jax Teller.  Clearly I am also a sucker for a sexy tattooed man, I mean have you seen my boyfriend?  Sigh.  The show is really good, I’m on episode 9 of the first season, and I’ve already requested Dar put season 2 in the mail for me.  I also may have suggested he rethink his desire for a stupid “crotch rocket” and get a Harley instead :) .

Alright, well I have to make it through my half day at work, then it’s off to prepare for the storm! Have a good weekend!

Gambling Fool

Wednesday already, huh?  That came quickly, (TWSS).  Side note, Darren threatened to lock me out of our hotel room if I said that one more time over the weekend, haha.  I’m dragging a little today thanks to last nights activities, so forgive me if I’m not as hilarious and entertaining as usual.

After a full nights rest on Monday night, I was more than ready to get myself back in the gym yesterday.  What I wasn’t sure of, was what I wanted to do.  I eventually found myself on what I now know is called the AMT (Adaptive Motion Trainer).  Previously known as, the crazy range of motion elliptical.  I liked it, and after 33 minutes I was dripping with sweat.  I closed out my cardio session with 1.25 miles on the treadmill, 9:05 pace, 3% incline.  I figured it was the best way to make the most out of a short run.

After work I hit up Trader Joe’s where I stocked up on a major supply of fruits and veggies, and wine.  One bottle to thank Adrienne for taking me to and from the airport last week, one bottle for the other roommates birthday present, and one bottle for me :) .  I also bought almond butter, because I’m going to try to will myself to like it.  All the articles I read about healthy fats and snacks piss me off, because every single one recommends eating almonds and crap.  Guess what, I fucking hate almonds, peanuts, cashews, blah, blah, blah.  What the hell am I supposed to eat?  No seriously, someone tell me!  I’m currently eating berries and almond butter, and not enjoying it at all.  Oh, and please don’t say greek yogurt or oatmeal because I’ll have to punch you.

Anyway, moving on.  Adrienne has wanted to host a poker night for a while, and last night was the night.  Two of our guy friends came over, and the four of us gambled our money away until just passed midnight, aka when I turn into a grouch.  I started out doing pretty well, but eventually had to buy back in, and then finally accept my losses once my $10 was gone.

It reminded me of high school when I used to beg Darren to let me come to poker night (he usually said no) and play with him and the older guys from the grocery store we worked at.  Who, now that I think about it, were probably the age I am now, but seemed so old to my stupid 17 year-old self.  That’s sad to think about.  It was fun, but I drank way too much wine and stayed up way too late for a Tuesday, now I want to take a nap.

Adios suckas.

I did it for America

So yesterday ended up flying by, and I’m betting the two-hour lunch I accidentally took had something to do with that.  Don’t worry though, it was for America so it’s ok.  I headed over to the gym at noon exactly so I could watch the woman’s World Cup game on TV while getting a workout in.  I ellipticalled for the entire first half, 50 minutes, stretched during the break, and did some abs once the game came back on.  At one point I was just sitting on the bench in the locker room watching, oops.  Of course I ended up leaving the TV right before US scored two goals and put the game in the bag, but I’m glad I got to see most of it.

I had to run some errands after work, which included trying to exchange a pair of crops at lululemon.  I ordered a pair online, they sent me the wrong size, and of course now my size is sold out online and out of stock in all my local stores.  However, they have great customer service, found a pair in my size and color preference in Santa Barbra, and now I just need to head back into my Clarendon store to get the exchange done.  I managed to walk out yesterday without buying anything, but I don’t know if my will power is strong enough to do that two days in a row.

Since I had paid for parking up until 6 pm, I decided to wander around a little bit and use up the time.  I ended up in Whole Foods, which could have been a disaster, but somehow I managed to walk up and down every aisle and only buy wine and mashed potatoes from the hot bar.  They were some damn good mashed potatoes too, and all I ended up eating for dinner, well along with some wine of course.

My appetite has been really strange lately, I’m still hungry for breakfast and lunch, but haven’t had an appetite for dinner.  Usually I ignore that and eat anyway because I like food, but last night I couldn’t even think about eating.  It’s not even that I’m just not hungry, I’ve been having stomach aches too.  I don’t know, weird, whatever.

While enjoying my wine, I was perusing Netflix and decided to watch Brothers with Natalie Portman, Toby Maguire, and Jake G.  Holy depressing.  Seriously, I don’t even know if I have an opinion other than that.  Well except that Jakey G looks sexy as hell with tattoos and Toby did a really good job of portraying a crazy person.  Although you couldn’t pay me enough to think that Natalie Portman has two children, nope.  But general review, it made me want to open another bottle of wine and drown in it.

I’m pretty excited for this weekend, my college roommate arrives in town today, my little sis gets here tomorrow, and Monday is my birthday!  I haven’t seen my sister since her college graduation back in May, and I miss her, plus she’s bring presents with her and that’s always cool.  I kid Col, I kid.  Anyway, have a great day!
