oops

On Saturday I accidentally bought $45 tinted moisturizer.  Today, unfortunately for my wallet, I fell head over heels in love with it.  You see, apparently I was function with only half a brain yesterday, and laid out in my backyard for a good 4 hours.  With my sunglasses on.  The whole time.  By the end of the day, I looked like this:

ridiculous

Have you ever seen such a prominent sunglass tan before?  So yeah, I couldn’t show up at work today looking like a raccoon, so I broke out the new moisturizer this morning and gave it a whirl.

no more raccoon eyes!

I am also loving the dewy look that comes along with this stuff.  As someone who never really wears makeup to work and hates, hates using foundation, I really love how light this is and how much it evens out my skin tone.  It’s the Laura Mercier Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer, and I got the Golden Radiance shade.  Full disclosure, I picked it up because my favorite swimsuit model and fiance of the sexy John Legend, Chrissy Teigen, said she uses it, and her skin always looks fabulous.  Anyway, I love it, and I guarantee I go through it way too quickly.

So besides the ridiculous sunburn on my face, I had a great weekend up in PA.  Friday night was dinner with my mom, and then Saturday I drove into the city bright and early to get my hair done.  I added some blonde highlights to it, and I’ll post a picture as soon as I have a good one.  I love it though, and I feel so summery, especially with my newly acquired tan.  My sister was flying in from San Diego on a flight that landed at 7:30, so after my hair was done I spent some time visiting my favorite places in Philly.

I also did some shopping (see purchase of tinted moisturizer) and officially had to size up in J. Crew for like the first time ever.  It is distressing me much more than it really should be, also because now I know the two pairs of shorts I bought last year definitely won’t fit right now.  I really have no idea why I keep getting so fat, I work out like a crazy person, and really do watch what I eat.  I don’t get it, and I’m on the verge of having a breakdown.  This is week 3 of following the plan the gym trainer made for me, so hopefully I notice some changes soon or I probably will lose it.

After spending lots of money and wandering the city for hours, I headed down to the airport to retrieve my sister and she treated me to a late dinner at Bonefish to thank me for picking her up.  I hit the road back to VA around 6:30 last night, and after sitting in ridiculous amounts of traffic in MD, finally made it home around 10:30.  It was a long and infuriating drive.

Back to the grind today, with lots to do, but hey next week is Memorial Day weekend and I have a 4 day one as well as my best friends wedding! Let the countdown  begin! How were your weekends?

Sign Me Up

Thanks everyone for your input yesterday, I got 2 “no’s” and 8 “yes’ ” regarding the bangs dilemma so we’ll see what I go with this afternoon.  It’s going to be a game time decision.  And yes, I realize how absolutely ridiculous and self-absorbed this discussion is.

So I mentioned earlier that I was gifted with a J. Crew gift card for Christmas, and took advantage of their post-Christmas sales, and additional post-Christmas 25% off and did some online shopping Monday night.  My order arrived yesterday and I loveeeeee everything.

All of this ended up costing me only $32. That top right sweater is a pale pink, not sure why it looks white.  I’d like to thank them for including a matching silk cami to go with that blouse, because it’s incredibly sheer.  Also, I think I officially need to join J. Crew-ics Anonymous.  They have that right?

Another post-Christmas purchase arrived yesterday also.  Over the course of 2011 I was using iPhoto to make a 2012 calendar, with March 2011 photos for the March 2012 page, etc.  I finally finished up the month of December after Christmas and am thrilled with the result.  The calendar looks beautiful, and the photos look like high quality prints.

Dec 2012 page = Dec 2011 events

I think it will be fun to flip through each month and remember what I was doing during that month last year, but then I’m a geek who enjoys things like that.  I’m done spending money now.

After work I managed to make it to the gym for a workout that included a 15 minute warm-up on the ARC trainer, followed by a back and chest lifting session.  I can’t tell you the last time I did a bench press, so my chest is feeling it today.  Then I cancelled out the entire workout by stopping at Baja Fresh on the way home and getting a burrito.  I don’t even really like burritos, but I couldn’t stop thinking about one.  We’ll just blame that on a certain monthly visitor making an appearance later this week.

Anywho, happy almost Friday!  We’re almost through the first week back after the holidays!  You can do it!

Warding off the Sadness

So, I’ve stated this many times before, but I’m basically an idiot.  Especially when it comes to thinking I’m right about something, there’s no need to check the details, I’ve got it covered.  You know what I mean though right?  You get an idea in your head, and before long you’re absolutely convinced you have the details right.  Where am I going with this?  Well, Dar and I kind of got a delayed Christmas gift in the form of some amazing news yesterday.  (I edited the rest of this paragraph after the first day of posting, just in case I should ever become super popular and easily located through Google.  Email me if you missed what was originally written.)

In other news, in an effort to combat my complete laziness and glutton over the weekend, I hit the gym last night for a workout.  45 minutes on the elliptical and some ab work that included crunches and planks.  I’m really trying to keep up all the workout motivation I had before going on vacation, but now that I’m bundled in sweaters and scarves, it’s much easier to say f-it and go home and put on pajamas.

Once I got home I spend an absurd amount of time playing on Instyle.com using their Hollywood makeover putting bangs on my face.  I have a hair appointment tomorrow, and as you all know, have been trying to decide whether or not to go for it since August.  Obviously these pictures look completely ridiculous because you can tell the hair is computer generated, but maybe they’ll give you a general idea of what I’d look like.

Haha, I am embarrassed for myself, but whatever.  Both of those are Lea Michelle’s hair, and I think I’m going to go for it. Hair grows back after all, right?  HALP!  Also, I’d really like to thank my tan for still hanging around and helping my face out when I have no makeup on.  Lifesaver I tell ya.

Alright, that’s enough narcissism from me today.  Don’t worry, there’s sure to be more on Friday when I end the suspense and let you all know what I ended up doing to my hair!  Later!

Rough Start

Today, has not gotten off to the best start.  The cat puked on my bedroom floor sometime around 6 am, I locked myself out of the house and had to break back in, there was an accident on the way to work making me 20 minutes late, I almost fell down the stairs, and to top it all off my head hurts so bad it’s making me nauseous.  I didn’t even drink last night!  Suck it Tuesday.

Ugh, anyway, I got right back into my regular routine yesterday with a lunch time workout.  45 minutes on the elliptical followed by 1 mile on the treadmill at about 8:30 pace.  After work I actually surprised myself by running the errands I needed to run. $63 shelled out at the dry cleaners for two pairs of pants I had taken in and a sweater that needed stitching, and stocking up on groceries.  Lots of frozen veggies, sweet potatoes, and chicken in my diet for the next 11 days.  Oh and did I mention I’m not drinking?  I suspect I’ll be quite pleasant to be around.

I also took full advantage of Cyber Monday yesterday, and knocked out almost all of my Christmas shopping.  My mom is the only person left on my list, and I plan on taking care of her sometime today.  I scored some awesome deals, like 30% off my entire order at one store and 25% off at another.  Love it.

When I was at my mom’s house this past weekend, I discovered and fell in love with my sister’s curling wand.  My girls Amy and Jess had professed their love for them before, but I’d never had the chance to use on.  Well after one video tutorial, and 5 minutes, I was hooked.  Mostly because it made my hair look like this:

Oh, hello beautiful curls that last without hair spray and still look awesome after sleeping.

And again.  I’m obsessed, and I tried to steal my sisters but she was not having it.  I also now know how Taylor Swift does her hair, because that is what my curls looked like right after I was done.  So yeah, I don’t know what it is about the curling wand, but it’s magic.

Alright, I’m off to hunt down some Advil and pray this headache goes away.  Peace.

Dark, Like My Soul

So after two hours in the salon last night, I’m officially back to my brunette roots.  My stubborn highlights required an extra round of dye to cover up, so I got to go through the shampooing process twice.  Fine by me, everyone knows that’s the best part anyway.  I liked the highlights and stuff, but they always faded super quickly, leaving me with hair that was 10 different colors.  Back to dark brown it is!

Threw some side bangs in there to mix it up a bit.  And no, I do not have two black eyes, I’m just tired and don’t wear any makeup to work.  Ok, and now I promise no more pictures of just my face for a while, that shit is annoying.  I’m well aware.

Yesterday may have been the slowest day in the history of the world.  I’m betting I say the same thing tomorrow about today.  I had absolutely zero work to do all day, so I sat here twiddling my thumbs trying to find things to look at on the internet.  Damn you for blocking HULU!  Finally around 2, I managed to drag myself across the street for a workout.

Spartacus workout!  Two full circuits, upping to 12 lb weight for the Goblet Squat, lunge and twist, and bent over dumbbell rows.  Still using 10 lbs for the other exercises.  I followed it up with some abs, because really I just wanted an excuse to lay down.  The best part about working out until 3:15, was it only left me with an hour of work to get through after.  Hooray!

Since the hair took a little longer than expected, I didn’t end up getting home until about 7:30 (stopped at the store) at which point I collapsed on the couch with a glass of wine and a frozen pizza, and Mad Men.  Ha, if you are a fan of my Facebook page you know I was trying to avoid the booze until tomorrow night.  Well, I am a failure, I should have known that would never happen.  Also, if I’m being completely honest, I had a Skinny Girl Margarita on Monday night :/.  Sigh, maybe I need an intervention.  Jk, I really don’t.

Obviously since I have a 6 pm flight tomorrow night, I have not packed yet, at all.  I’m trying to decide if I can pack for a 4 day trip and wedding in a carry on size suitcase.  I’m also trying to decide if the suitcase we have is carry on size.  I suppose I could measure it, but that would take all the fun out of it.  Also, what does one bring to a wedding weekend at a lakeside resort in Wisconsin?  No, seriously.

Ok, I’m off.  Don’t tell me if you don’t like my hair.  I’m feeling sensitive today.
