Flyza Minnelli

Bahaha, does anyone watch Modern Family?  Seriously one of the funniest shows on TV right now.  Apparently when the one character, Mitchell, was younger he had a bird named Flyza Minnelli and the joke is how could his father not know he was gay.  If you don’t watch it already, you should start.

Last night I did an easy 35 minutes on the elliptical, and then did some chest presses and bicep curls on an exercise ball.  I’ve made the executive decision to stop all running for now, at least until I can walk normally without feeling any pain.  I don’t think I’m doing myself any good pushing it and running while in pain.  I’ve pretty much accepted the fact that I probably won’t be able to run Broad Street in May, and if I can, I probably won’t PR.  It’s ok though, there are other races and other years.  Blue Cross can keep my $33.

I was on my own for dinner last night, and whipped up an easy favorite.  Pizza!  I used one of the pieces of my TJ’s flatbread as crust instead of a tortilla, and it was amazinggg.

First I sauteed some red, green, and orange pepper and onion in a pan sprayed with non-stick spray while the flat bread was in the oven getting warm.

Then I added my pizza sauce and the veggies.

Some mozzarella cheese and turkey pepperoni, and then back into the oven for 10 minutes.  I had my oven at 375 degrees.

While the pizza was in the oven, I made up my side salad using some of the leftover peppers, carrots, cucumbers, spinach, and lettuce with TJ’s Sweet Poppyseed dressing.

The flat bread makes such a better crust than just a tortilla.  I have 4 more pieces of bread, so there will definitely be more pizza in my future :) .

Well, happy Thursday everyone!  Anyone doing anything fun this weekend?  I’ll be home all weekend, no plans for this girl.

  1. i’ve heard awesome things about that show but still have never seen it! i gotta get on that – the flyza story is hysterical!

  2. That pizza looks so good! I like how the veggies are under the cheese so they soften as it bakes. I’m always on the look out for good TJ’s finds so this flatbread will have to be added to my list :).

  3. Hey girl! I’m a new reader, and I always see you comment on PB Fingers so I thought I’d make my way on over here!

Modern Family is HILARIOUS! I love that show—love the dad on the show. he’s hilarious, and just awkward and funny!

  4. Modern Family is one of my must-watch-no-matter-what-or-I-watch-online shows! Sooooo good. I don’t even have a favorite because I love every single character.

Sorry to hear you’re giving up the race… :S I’ve chilled out alot on the running myself at the moment…. grrr. But I’m so glad I have people to read about and vent to on here- my able-bodied friends who don’t run just look at me like I’m crazy when I start talking about it. Lame…

    • My favorite line was “I’m Columbian, I know a fake crime scene when I see one” haha I died. Yeah I really enjoy having people to complain to who completely understand what i’m going through. Most of my girlfriends despise working out, so there like uuh who cares.

    • My friends are the same way!!! They think i’m NUTS to be sad that I can’t run.

  5. Injury always seems to derail the best laid plans. I feel for you! Hopefully, you get the chance to come back stronger than before!

  6. Everyone keeps telling me that I need to watch that show, but I’ve never seen it.

  7. Sadly, it’s probably a good decision to lay low on the running front until you’re not re-injuring yourself. This also leads to quicker recovery. Infuriating, right?
I have no idea what you are talking about with Modern Family. But I believe you when you say it’s funny.

  8. That pizza does look good!! I haven’t ever seen Modern Family…is it going to be hard to jump in mid-season?

    • No, not really it’s not one of those shows where the story line continues from week to week, each episode is a complete story. I think you can watch online at abc.com though!

  9. I love Modern Family! I haven’t watched last night’s episode yet, but I can’t wait!

    Your pizza looks incredible.

  10. I LOVE Modern Family – it is easily one of the best shows on tv right now.

The flat bread crust for your pizza is a really good idea!

  11. Mmm love the pizza!! Great idea! I agree- tortillas are way too thin. The flatbread was awesome I bet!
And I am going to be spending the weekend with my best friend for her birthday which should be a blast.
I hope you have a fantastic Friday!!

  12. *Currently kicking myself for not picking up the TJ’s flat bread yesterday* Oh well. Your pizza looks fabulous!!! I haven’t had turkey pepperoni in forever… need to fix that!

And good call on the cutting back on running. Girl, running through pain is NOT a good idea. Trust me on this one. I was too stubborn to stop when I felt pain and I’m paying for it now. There will be other races, other years, it’s not over for good. You WILL run again and you will be SO much more appreciative of running. Just give your body the rest it’s asking for and in time, you will be right back at it!

    • I actually just threw the last 4 slices in my freezer because the sell by date was yesterday! If that stuff goes bad there might seriously be tears. Yeah, I was just being stupid before, if I can barely walk without pain there is no way in hell I should be running. Looks like I’ll be dedicating some time to strength training and abs.
